From Football Field to Courtroom Practice

Hailing from modest beginnings in Paris, Texas, Frank Jackson took an indirect route into law. Beginning as a sports star in high-school and later achieving football celebrity at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Frank Jackson advanced to the world of professional football. There, he played for the Dallas Texans (who became the Kansas City Chiefs) and later for the Miami Dolphins.

On leave from medical school to play football for Miami, Jackson's life took an unexpected turn. Jackson met Percy Foreman, the defense attorney on the nationally known Candy Mosler trial. Jackson's conversations with Foreman convinced him to drop out of medical school and enter law school instead. After retiring from football, he entered the University of Miami Law School, determined to become a criminal defense attorney.

After law school, Jackson returned to Dallas County in 1971 and began his career prosecuting criminal cases as an Assistant District Attorney. During these two years he gained intimate knowledge of how the "other side" thinks, an understanding which has proved invaluable to his strategy as a criminal defense practitioner.

Always attracted to defense work, Frank Jackson entered private practice in 1973, establishing his own criminal defense firm in the Dallas area. Drawing from the many parallels between trial law and his sports career, Jackson takes the winning tenacity and dogged determination that he learned on the football field and applies it to his courtroom practice.
